Dr. Mike Poole was the co-founder of NeuShen and a visionary leader in neuroscience and biotechnology. Most recently, he served as a venture partner at Biomatics Capital, where he focused on data- and genomics-driven investments in neuroscience, providing strategic and operational guidance to portfolio companies. His career spanned decades as leader in both large pharmaceutical firms and innovative biotech ventures.
Previously, Dr. Poole co-founded Neumora Therapeutics, a clinical-stage biotech company pioneering precision medicines for brain diseases by integrating data science and neuroscience. He also led external investments in the Office of the President for Global Health at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Before that, he served as Vice President and Head of the Neuroscience Innovative Medicines group at AstraZeneca. His extensive experience included roles as Chief Medical Officer at Link Medicine and Hypnion, as well as Vice President of Neuroscience Development at Wyeth and Pfizer.
Board-certified in both internal medicine (University of Rochester, Strong Memorial Hospital) and adult deurology (University of Michigan), Dr. Poole held an MD from UC San Diego School of Medicine and an undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley. His contributions to neuroscience and drug development left a lasting impact on patients, researchers, and the biotech industry.
Dr. Poole passed away in 2024, but his legacy continues to inspire advancements in brain health and precision medicine.
